Lily Hill People

Gladys, Rosie, and Iris

Kelly Wood, oldest daughter and mother of three, is the cook for many of the events at Lily Hill Farm. Kelly is the resident seamstress, as well. From shirts, pants and dresses, to socks, mittens, hats, scarves, sweaters, rugs, and quilts, there is very little she hasn't sewn, repaired, knitted, crocheted, or woven on her loom. She also makes soaps, lotions, and creams. All this in addition to a full-time job at Borgess Hospital where she pursues her other love - nursing. She's a cardiac surgical nurse and sews up people as well after helping to fix their heart!

Penelope Wood, office manager, bookkeeper, and marketing specialist, has been at the farm for a year and a half, after serving for a number of years as Administrator of the Faculty Senate at Western Michigan University. "Nelly" as she is called by the family, does a little bit of everything. She handles all of the paperwork and bank accounts for the Learning Center, does a good deal of editing for Penny, and has even worked as Jim's painting assistant. At present she is back in school, working on another degree, this one in accounting, and she plans to sit for her CPA license this July, 2008.

Amanda Ferreira, Kelly's youngest daughter, is a 9th grade student at Lawton High School. Her jobs include feeding and watering chickens, collecting eggs, weeding the garden in summer, and doing evening dishes. One of Amanda's loves is music, another is writing poetry--which she is quite good at. She loves camera work as well, and is a natural writer.

Nathan Wood and his son Nate, Jr. are family members and frequent workers here at the farm. Nathan is a Respiratory Therapist in Battle Creek at Sprectum Health. Nate, Jr. is 14 years old and in the 8th grade at Lawton Middle School. Both help out with everything from stacking wood and fixing fences to cutting grass and working in the garden. Nathan, Sr. is also a very good drywall installer and finisher.
Jeff Pound, M.D. is an emergency room doctor and spends most of his time in the "thumb" of Michigan where he works at two hospitals. As if that weren't enough he also has an office at Lily Hill Learning Center where he practices hypnotherapy and sees clients interested in holistic medicine. Jeff has an extensive background in integrating conventional medicine and holistic therapies to get the best of both without conflicting side effects.
