New! Click here to download pdf version of our Spring 2008 Newsletter Lily Hill Farm and Learning Center began in 1987 when Jim Jenzen and Penny Kelly bought 57 acres in Lawton, Michigan. Jim, a gifted construction engineer and project manager who works both on and off the farm, began the long process of repairing and remodeling the old farmhouse and dilapidated barn. Penny, a writer, teacher, counselor, and consultant, was working in Florida at the time as acting principal for a school converting to accelerative and brain compatible teaching methods. In 1988 she returned to Michigan and began what is now known as the Learning Center. Today there are three generations of family living and working together. LHF maintains several commitments: to support spiritual growth and human development, to grow organic food and feed it to those who come to the center, and to support sustainability and the shift to sustainable lifestyles. The Learning Center offers classes throughout the year. For those who attend classes, there are guest rooms which can be rented for overnight stays. Classes offered regularly are Developing and Using Intuition; Getting Well Again Naturally; Organic Gardening; Artists' Week; A Weekend on The Farm; and Cooking From Scratch. Other classes and retreats are also offered throughout the year by visiting teachers, leaders, and consultants. We are in the southwest corner of Michigan, in the heart of vineyard country. This is also in The Fruit Belt--a 35-mile wide strip of land that runs up the west coast of Michigan and is known for delicious vegetables and luscious fruits with a unique flavor and bouquet. Lily
